Why You’ll Love This Dirty Martini Dip

Gina @ Skinnytaste.com

Last year, my friend Dyanne brought this dip to my Christmas party, and I asked her to share her recipe. We lightened it up with Greek yogurt as the creamy base, and it tastes exactly like her version.

  • Perfect for Dirty Martini Lovers: Dirty martinis are iconic for their bold flavors, and this dip captures every ounce of that magic. Briny green olives and a splash of olive juice (the “dirty” part) bring their signature flavor to the forefront.
  • Easy: This dip recipe takes little time to make, and you can even prepare it a day early so it’s ready to serve when it’s party time.
  • Dietary Restrictions: Weight Watchers-friendly, vegetarian, gluten-free, high-protein

Why Greek Yogurt?

Whole milk Greek yogurt lightens this dip by reducing the fat content while still delivering that rich, creamy texture. Plus, it’s packed with protein, so you can feel good about indulging in it. I highly recommend whole milk Greek yogurt for the best results.

Dirty Martini Dip Ingredients

This is the best dirty martini dip with all the traditional martini ingredients: gin or vodka, olives, and gorgonzola cheese. See the recipe card for the exact measurements.

  • Onions: Sauteed onions add depth and complexity to the dip.
  • Liquor: Use vodka or gin–whichever you prefer in your martinis! The alcohol cooks out since you’re cooking it with the onions.
  • Creamy Ingredients: Whole-milk Greek yogurt (don’t use fat-free!) and low-fat mayonnaise
  • Olives: No dirty martini is complete without olives! Use chopped green martini olives with pimento and the brine for maximum flavor.
  • Seasoning: Salt and black pepper
  • Lemon Zest for a bright citrus note
  • Gorgonzola or Blue Cheese: The ultimate martini has blue cheese-stuffed olives, so the bold, savory flavor of gorgonzola or blue cheese is essential.

How to Make Dirty Martini Dip

To make this quick appetizer, saute the onions and mix everything together. Scroll to the bottom for the printable instructions.

  1. Saute the Onions: Heat olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and salt, and cook until browned. Pour in the alcohol and cook until it’s almost evaporated. Set aside to cool.
  2. Combine the Ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir together the yogurt, mayo, olives, brine, pepper, onions, and cheese.
  3. Garnish with lemon zest and olives.

Variations

  • Olives: Substitute Castelvetrano or manzanilla olives.
  • Alcohol-free Dirty Martini Dip: Omit the liquor.
  • Cheese: Swap gorgonzola with blue cheese or Roquefort.
  • Pro Tip: To make it feel extra fancy, serve it in a large martini glass or skewer a few olives on toothpicks as garnish!

What to Serve with Dirty Martini Dip

This easy dirty martini dip is delicious with crudites (carrots, endive, radishes, cucumbers, etc.) or crackers, chips, or pretzels.
