Announcing Andy Ratcliffe | MQ Mental Health Research

MQ Mental Health Research is delighted to announce that Andy Ratcliffe has been appointed as their new CEO.

Andy brings extensive experience from his time as CEO of Impetus (A leading social mobility charity), Deputy CEO of Tony Blair’s Africa Governance Initiative, and Executive Director of Impact on Urban Health.

Andy also has a background in policy, having previously worked in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit under Gordon Brown.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the MQ team.” Says Andy.

“I know the importance of mental health, from personal experience, and from my career understanding and tackling inequality.

The suffering caused by mental ill-health is huge, but the amount of new research and innovation to make things better is tiny by comparison. That is the challenge that I want to help MQ take on. It’s also an opportunity because under-researched areas hold the biggest potential for major breakthroughs.”

Andy will be taking up his position in January and joins MQ at an exciting time. The charity is delivering more research partnerships than ever before, including projects examining psychosis and developing new solutions for depression, anxiety disorders and PTSD.
